How can communities secure resources for development and turn ideas into tangible change?

This question marked the beginning of the new training module within the Localist Project, dedicated to project management and resource mobilization.

Today, a successful community is defined not only by visionary ideas but also by its ability to build partnerships, identify funding opportunities, and implement initiatives that create lasting value for its residents.

During the first training sessions, participants explored the practical foundations of successful project development, including the topics:

where to find relevant grant opportunities for communities;

how to clearly define the problem a project is intended to address;

how to develop a realistic budget aligned with project objectives and donor requirements;

how to design an implementation plan that delivers sustainable, long-term impact.

A special focus was placed on understanding how donors assess project proposals. In practice, funding is rarely awarded to the most ambitious ideas alone – it is awarded to well-designed solutions that respond to genuine community needs, present a coherent implementation strategy, and demonstrate measurable, sustainable outcomes.

In the coming weeks, participants will continue with new learning modules, practical assignments, and the development of their own project concepts. In the meantime, we invite you to take a behind-the-scenes look at the programme and watch a short video recap of the first training sessions.

The program is implemented within the framework of the “Impulse” Project, implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation and the East Europe Foundation (EEF) with financial support from Norway (Norad) and Sweden (Sida).
