The GoLOCAL team, in partnership with GIZ, hosted an information day for representatives of Ukrainian territorial communities focused on the Municipal Humanitarian Energy Support Programme.
Since 2022, more than 16,000 units of humanitarian energy equipment, with a total weight of 1,396 tonnes, have been delivered to Ukraine by 50 German companies. This support has reached more than 60 communities across 19 regions.
The aim of the event was to help communities better understand how the mechanism for receiving humanitarian energy equipment works, what stages it involves, and what key aspects should be taken into account when participating in the programme.
The meeting was opened by Nadia Atamaniuk, Coordinator of the GIZ Campaign for Donations in Support of Ukraine’s Energy Sector, and Igor Komendo, President of GoLOCAL. They highlighted the importance of international partnerships, coordinated support, and strengthening the capacity of communities to respond effectively to energy challenges.
Maryna Zamfir, Chief Operating Officer at GoLOCAL, presented the results achieved through the programme.
The GoLOCAL team provided a detailed overview of how the process moves from an available offer of humanitarian assistance to a tailored solution that meets the specific needs of a community:
Vyacheslav Luchnykov, Programm Coordinator, presented the equipment matchmaking mechanism and explained how the process is coordinated in line with communities’ needs;
Anastasiia Polinkova, Head of the Logistics Department, outlined the organisation of deliveries and the full logistics support cycle;
Iryna Popova, Head of the Legal Department, familiarised participants with the legal frameworks for transferring humanitarian aid and the required documentation.
A dedicated Q&A session was an important part of the meeting. Community representatives received practical guidance on participation in the programme, discussed their specific needs, and explored the next steps.
This format helps make cooperation between communities and programme implementers more transparent, clear and effective.
We thank all the community representatives for their active participation, constructive dialogue, and commitment to strengthening their communities. New stages of cooperation lie ahead, bringing further opportunities to enhance the energy resilience of Ukrainian communities.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to GIZ Ukraine: Energy and Climate for its comprehensive support to Ukraine’s energy sector, its partnership, and its joint efforts to develop solutions that help Ukrainian communities maintain the uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure.
The donation campaign is part of the Power4Just Transition programme, implemented by GIZ Ukraine under the umbrella of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership and funded by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie.
