The GoLOCAL team participated in the launch of the Power4Just Transition program — an initiative aimed at supporting the inclusive and sustainable transformation of Ukraine’s coal regions and strengthening the resilience of the energy system in the context of the war.

The Power4Just Transition program seeks to enhance the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system — focusing not only on environmental sustainability, but also on supporting local economies, communities, and critical infrastructure affected by the war.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, GoLOCAL, in cooperation with GIZ, has been implementing a campaign to provide humanitarian support from Germany to Ukraine’s energy sector. The initiative focuses on assisting communities, energy companies, and critical infrastructure, including those located in frontline regions.

During the event, the team shared its experience in implementing this campaign, which provides a full cycle of support — from identifying the needs of energy companies and municipalities to ensuring logistics for equipment and materials from Germany through the logistics hub in Chełm, Poland, as well as legal support and reporting.

Ongoing attacks on critical infrastructure create a continuous demand for equipment for thermal power plants and distribution substations, as well as for mobile solutions that enable the rapid restoration of power supply in emergency situations. Within the framework of the Power4Just Transition project, GoLOCAL will continue to develop this line of work, with a particular focus on green recovery.

GoLOCAL expresses its gratitude to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany, GIZ, the German companies that made donations, and local partners — the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Khmelnytskoblenergo, and other organizations involved in this important work.
