The goal of the project “New Opportunities for Ukrainian Agribusiness: Ghana Market Research” is to create new opportunities for the Ukrainian agricultural sector by entering the Ghanaian market and building a “bridge” for cooperation between Ukrainian companies and Ghanaian partners. This is a path to exports, investments, local production, and joint participation in grant programs.

Project description

Trade with the EU remains unstable, with periods of liberalization alternating with restrictions and quotas. That is why it is important for Ukrainian agricultural producers to diversify their markets. Africa, particularly Ghana, is showing steady growth in demand for agricultural products and opening up new areas of cooperation.

As part of the project, the GoLOCAL team, in partnership with the Ukrainian-African Trade Mission, conducted a comprehensive study of Ghana’s agri-food market:

  • analyzed the supply chains for grains, legumes, and oilseeds;
  • studied certification requirements and quality standards;
  • identified key stakeholders and established initial contacts with potential partners;
  • mapped donor organizations, business associations, and support institutions.

We sought to lay the groundwork for joint Ukrainian-African projects that can be implemented independently or submitted for international funding. To this end, we launched an online platform as a basis for future cooperation.

The platform already offers:

  • a list of donor organizations and grant opportunities for work on the African continent;
  • an interface for finding partners: you can leave a request and find a company to collaborate with.

In addition, the platform contains the full text of the study. Read more.
