The Association of Coal Communities of Ukraine and GoLOCAL are joining forces to implement the “Fair Transformation Initiative – Advancing EU Standards in Ukraine’s Coal Regions” project, with financial support from the Ukraine2EU Programme.
Over the next 12 months, we will work to bring Ukraine’s approaches to just transition closer to European Union standards.
As part of the project, we will conduct a comparative analysis of Ukrainian legislation and the EU acquis – the body of legislation, rules, regulations, and standards that form the foundation of the European Union’s legal framework. Based on this analysis, we will identify key legislative and regulatory gaps and develop proposals for addressing them.
An important component of the project will be the active involvement of coal communities. Their needs, challenges, and proposals will be taken into account throughout consultations, expert work, and the development of recommendations for public authorities.
For the Association, this project is an opportunity to represent the interests and perspectives of coal communities in Ukraine’s European integration process and help ensure that future legislative decisions reflect the real needs of territories undergoing transformation.
Throughout the year, we will share key project milestones, the outcomes of consultations and analysis, and the solutions developed. We will also explain complex legislative and European integration processes in clear and accessible language – so that they are understandable not only to experts and public authorities, but also to residents of Ukraine’s coal communities.
